Father's Day, '09

Mom, I put a few things on Pop's tomb. After we closed I went to Whiskey Dix Bar and asked for one of the musicians to play "St. James Infirmiry". They did it really slow and had me in tears. But we laugh.

It was hot at Laf One, but a whole bunch of our people came out. We had a burial on Sat. and they came back to finish. I got some pix and they told me to tell you hi. The middle son is at DOJ. We have everything under control. Except the heat.........besame mucho.........Sean

Problems with Commercial Tourguides

There is a VERY short list of commercial tourguides who can be reccommended by the LCRP. Because of groups such as Save Our Cemeteries, INC., and other money-laundering nand fly-by=night tour companies who tell people to meet at some coffeeshop or accost you as you get off of the streetcar. They take a very simple test which is mostly about where Jackson Square is or how much the streetcar costs. Nothing at all about the cemeteries or their history. They even say that our cemetery is unsafe so you will do their tour. NONE of their money benefits the cemetery. Watch out for any of the Haunted, Magic, Historic, etc. walking tours. You are better off giving money to the cemetery directly.

New Photos

We have new photos posted on the Lafayette Cemetery site - including shots from filming for a movie about famous New Orleans musician Buddy Bolden (often called "The Father of Jazz" and credited for creating the true Jazz sound) and the feature film based on the DC Comics anti-hero "Jonah Hex".
